Davis Vision would like to remind its patients that their are only a few more weeks until funds may be lost from Flex Spend accounts. For those who don’t know what a health care flexible spending account is, it is an account that allows contributions of pretax dollars to pay for medical expenses that aren’t covered by regular insurance plans.
At most companies, any money left in the account at year-end is forfeited. Many are not aware of a new provision of the health care reform act that was signed into law last year. The new provision makes the task of emptying flex plans even more challenging because account participants won’t be reimbursed for purchases of over-the-counter drugs unless they have a doctor’s prescription. However, there are still lots of ways to zero out flex spend accounts, even at this late date. People can purchase the following with flex spend funds:
- Glasses
- Prescription sun wear
- Premium lens options for cataract surgery
- LASIK
- Contact lenses
Call us today if you need an appointment or to place an order before the end of the year.
