We start with the latest in technology, featuring multiple Laser platforms including the New Intralase Laser flap creation and the VISX Star S4 IR with iris registration which memorizes spots on your iris so that it can precisely track your eye movements during the procedure.
What Is the Difference Between Conventional LASIK and Our LASIK?
Both procedures are performed with the VISX Star IR excimer laser. The main difference in the two is the utilization of the WaveFront analyzer in our LASIK Utah procedures. This CustomVue WaveFront system identifies and measures specific imperfections called high order aberrations in a patient’s eyes, making it 25 times more precise than standard measurements. The WaveScan system transfers the digital data to the Star S4 Excimer laser which is used to perform the treatment on the patients eye. In addition, the advanced CustomVue procedure uses an FDA-approved VISX Iris registration technology, a non-contact method of aligning the treatment to the cornea, providing precise laser alignment accuracy, even with patient movement during the procedure.
The advanced CustomVue procedure has earned approval to treat the broadest range of vision imperfections possible, including mild to severe nearsightedness (up to 11 diopters of correction) farsightedness, and all types of astigmatism. Conventional LASIK is still an excellent choice for many patients but is not as effective with high order aberrations. For his Salt Lake City, Provo, and Orem patients, Dr. Davis carefully analyzes the option that is right for each patient. He will recommend a treatment based on the level of aberrations on the front surface of the eyes.
