Studies have shown that eye drops made from the serum in your blood (autologous serum) can substantially improve your dry eyes. The theory is that your own serum contains nutrients and mediators that help your eyes heal thereby improving the dryness and inflammation involved.
How Are Serum Tears Produced?
First your own blood is drawn. It is then spun in a centrifuge, the serum is separated and mixed with a solution.
You are given numerous bottles which are kept frozen until used. When one bottle runs out you simply remove another bottle from the freezer and let it thaw at room temperature and use it one drop at a time.

As with all eye drops it is best to only place one drop at a time and simply close the eye for 30 seconds after instillation and do not blink. Blinking removes the drop and therefore you should not blink after installation.
Your doctor will direct you on the frequency of using your serum eye drops.
